all right..by my count, i owe 2 nights of blogging!
friday: went out with some old friends who i always look forward to seeing but due to long distance (spread out amongst 3-4 cities in 2-3 countries) and conflicts in schedules, i only get to see them about 4 times a year. twas cool to see them again! stayed out rather late since we were celebrating b-days that we missed. haha funny thing was that i was playing a drinking game without knowing --- er..well, i found out when i lost. *sigh*....haha thanks to cindy for feeling sorry for me and finishing off the other half of my drink ;)
*grin*
as for saturday, it started off by me waking up on the living room floor at 6am (i came back late from hanging with friends and was apparently so tired that i just thunked out on the floor...*sigh*)...=) went to fairview mall for an hour (supersaturday discounts, free coffee, free long-d cards!)...(yes, i'm a er...paid spokesperson...quiet!). later on, i went grocery shopping with my brother since we wanted to make my mom a nice mother's day dinner for tonight. course, my brother and i have equal knowledge on selecting produce, etc (read: we know NOTHING about healthy foods). thus, we did the whole chinese hit-the-melon to know if it's a good one or not. course, we just stood there slapping squash and *sigh* we don't even know what is the 'right' sound to hear so that didn't work out. then vic and i had this whole debate on what carrots to get (baby vs. the just-pulled-out-of-ground stuff). in the end, we just decided to forego the carrots. that's right. there will be NO carrots tonight. (i came home to find carrots in the fridge. *sigh* why didn't anyone say anything?!). Mushrooms. I tend to like them (haha sorry, hero). So i made vic go and pick some, proceeding me telling him how to pick mushrooms. (read: if it's white, not bruised up, and looks like a mushroom). There are 4 colours of peppers. Vic wanted the light orange ones. I wanted the red ones. *sigh* so there we were. standing in front of an aisle of peppers, arguing over which one to get. (yes, he won. damned boys!) Also, on the menu: some form of meat. I thought steak or some nice scallops. Vic thought chicken. Rock, paper, scissors? We're serving chicken with Creole sauce....and i bought a fillet of cod (which i made last night instead of tonight).
All in all, vic and i had a hilarious time shopping. (never shall it happen again)
at night? aunties (mommy's sisters) got together and went over to gramma's to surprise her with gifts and stuff....
haha the funniest thing? we were all lined up along the wall going to my gramma's door...only one aunt was scheduled to come and drop off stuff so she went in and we were supposed to all go and yell "SURPRISE!"...course, my little cousin was leading the charge and was a tad slow getting to the door so haha we all yelled "surprise" to a closing door. *hangs head*
had a great time watching all my aunts trying to give my gramma gifts and as is chinese tradition, gramma rejects the gifts and tries to give everyone money. *sigh*....course, as family tradition has it, we all pretend to take the money, hide it somewhere in her house and tell her about it after we leave so she can't do anything about it =) *sigh* welcome to my big, fat, chinese life =)
the funny thing is...after gramma gave us money, we all went over to the bible on the shelf and stuffed all the red pockets there. *slaps forehead*
so then we called gramma in the car and told her it was in there.
mom: vic, where's your red pocket?
vic: in my pocket.
me: *slaps forehead* haha what?! we all gave it back and you kept it?!
vic: what? you all gave it back!? why didn't anyone tell me?!
*sigh* haha my family's hilarious.
ps, i accept monetary gifts.
