So if you live your life in a three piece suit,
In a cocktail dress, or combat boots
You pick your path and you walk your truth
And the world will come round to you.

Pop the cork, a champagne glass
Raise to the future, drink to the past
Thank the Lord for the friends he cast,
In the play he wrote for you.

Well, so far it's been an amazing 24 hours. :)

As most of you engineers know, iron ring is a crazy event (and valuable heirloom) and I finally, FINALLY was able to get me one. So at 5pm yesterday, I went through the Ritual Calling of an Engineer and got myself obligated! I'm still a little high about it since it's something that most people look forward to for a while. Well, I obviously didn't think it was that big a deal until this week (at least, I haven't thought about it too much since the last iron ring parties I've been at) but it's great. It's weird typing with the extra ring on my pinky too :)

With any big (or small) event, engineers have to party it out so that's what we did. Pictures there are only from UC and SUDS at the ECE iron ring party rather than the party at Tonic. I decided not to take a camera there eventhough I would have liked pictures of all my friends dancing the night away. It was a good idea though since I didn't want to lose it or have to hold it while i was taking in my drinks (gotta love $1.50 drinks) :)

So that was the first bit of good news. The second is that I found out I won the election for valedictorian. Despite what a friend thought, your ranking in the class does not identify you as valedictorian (thank goodness for that too because I'm near the bottom of the barrel right now). So, all in all, big speech tmrw. I'm nervous but super excited too. Here's to hoping I don't mess up in front of 0T5/0T4+PEY :(

The last bit is that my supervisor emailed me and told me to look at some EclipseCon pictures, especially a picture of one of our big dev's in Zurich doing a tutorial. There was an editor I wrote on the screen! So that was some awesome news I got today too. (Wasn't a big deal but it's one of the more high-profile tasks I had to work on so I'm glad it was at EclipseCon) :)

In other cool news, I'm heading out to dinner with an old friend later tonight at Fred's Not Here. I hear good things about that place and I really like trying out new places so should be a good event. :)

Anyhow, waaaaaayy too much to do now and I've blogged for a while (was distracted with other things too). Going to head down to school and hopefully get some work done -- but then again, miracles can't happen every day. ;-)
