An absolutely fabulous weekend so far.
Friday started with work and ended off with a trip downtown to Yuk Yuk's and saw Dana Alexander, Mark Walker, and Stewart Francis. I've never been to a comedy club but always wanted to so I'm glad I finally got to go. Me and J-dog decided to have crepes for dinner...and then split a schwarma pita for dessert. haha clearly we had our priorities straight. Then we met up with the crew (Antsy, Yulian, Mansoor, Polina, Max) at Yuk Yuk's where my face eventually started hurting from the laughing and smiling. I tried to repeat the jokes to my brother but quickly realized comedy was not my calling. If you like dry, punny humour though, look into Stewart Francis' gigs...
I used to be trapeze artist...but I got let go.
I was a trampoline salesman...on and off.
After Yuk Yuk's, I was too tired to continue to the Wide Mouth Mason concerto with A & J so subwayed myself home :)
Saturday was a day that started with shopping, as all good days should. Course, the shopping bit was mainly for my brother since he needs a suit. Then, I found my way to work to get some things done, and later came back home for....my birthday party! My mom's awesome. She invited aunts, uncles, cousins, etc to have dinner at my place. Problem is that half of them are studying out of city/country and/or vacationing out of country. Nevertheless, we partied out Chinese-family style with loe-maei-fahn, lots of chinese take-out, and best of all, my famous uncle B's homemade cake. He used to make them for my birthday when I was younger and would put chunks of jello instead of fruit in it -- my favourite kind of cake :) I guess he thought I was older now and should have a big-girl cake. I was disappointed at first to think I wasn't getting jello cake but....uncle B tried out something new this time. Instead of a more traditional cake with fruit, I got green tea cake with red-bean paste filling between the top layers and fruit between the bottom layers. It was awesome! One of the best cakes I've ever ever ever had, and completely tops my ice cream cake idea :) I posted pictures on 0x002a.com.
And now....back to the normal routine :)
btw, it feels like another Christmas morning today. I love cool, crisp mornings while hiding in a warm house :)
Oh, and in exciting news, I'm going to NYC! Well, just for a couple days since my brother has an interview down there and I've been planning to visit Viv and Jon for about 5 years now. Fluffy and J-dog have already given me some good touristy things to do..and i'm sure Viv and Jon know the city well enough to point me in the right directions. haha I've wanted to see Spamalot for half a year when Eric Idle introduced it on The Daily Show. I'm a little deterred by the pricing but then again, when am I ever going to go to NYC and see Spamalot again? hahaa course, should I make my first Broadway show something a little more Broadway...hrm. Nah! :) Now....to see if Viv or Jon will go with me.... :)
