So if you live your life in a three piece suit,
In a cocktail dress, or combat boots
You pick your path and you walk your truth
And the world will come round to you.

Pop the cork, a champagne glass
Raise to the future, drink to the past
Thank the Lord for the friends he cast,
In the play he wrote for you.

Lately, I've gone into narrative mode. The reason for this change in mindset (not that I never really talked to myself before as if I were addressing the masses) is because I started reading The Lost Continent and Bill Bryson seriously writes the way I would if I ever buckled down to write a book. That said, I would have to go travel around small-town america and come from a small town, both of which are out of the question. I'm a city girl (read: born and raised in suburbia). I could write a book on being in the city but it's already been done (haha no, this book wouldn't have been my topic of choice).

I wanted to go discover the city a bit and so two weekends ago, went down to Pioneer Square, Seattle's oldest neighbourhood. I'd been hearing a lot about it and wanted to see exactly what this historical neighbourhood was about. All the red brick buildings of the way Seattle used to be. Almost every other door is a gallery or antique shop or just unique shop of some sort. It's cool that way :) There was a woodworking store with (wood) furniture for crazy prices but also crazy beautiful. A large number of asian galleries and stores too but I don't have the ambience at home to really do it justice..that plus I have no room for a Chinese pharmacy cabinet or similar.

I tried to document my travels and unfortunately, 0x002a.com has been down. (I'm sorry! Thanks to Dave for telling me about that as I hadn't gone to my site for a while) I have a feeling it's a renewal issue :) I'll get that sorted out but until then, here are photos from my travels.

The picture tour:
I started on the bus going to downtown Seattle so you'll see the bus and the bridge crossing to start off (you seriously can trace most of my route with these pictures).

We get off the bus in the international district by King Station (old train station) and Union Station (also a train station once but soon to be the home of our new light rail system).

Then we progress into Pioneer Square! You'll see Cafe Umbria pictures and all because I went in there to read and warm up with a latte (very 'You've Got Mail' but in Seattle and without a multi-billionaire internet buddy.)

I took pictures of Ugly Dolls because I love them (but too pricey for me)..plus they remind me of Vay (no, she's not ugly. but I saw a lot of them in NYC with her a la this pic).

Also saw a 12th man Santa from someone's window, which you have to give credit for because it was superbowl time :)

Then I took a picture of the Clog Factory just for Joyce and the best ice cream place in downtown for Meesh (I think I was talking to her about ice cream recently?) :)

There are also a couple pictures of the harbour steps complexes where I lived before...didn't get to take pictures due to lack of a camera before.

Ended off the day by our (relatively) famous 4th/Pike intersection..a touristy area where there's shopping and the monorail (which is apparently going away and closed for repairs after a er...slight accident).

:) And that was the day...now to get on with this day ... :) Can someone please write my performance review? :(

i give your pictures a positive review! that area reminds me a lot of the distillery district, both in terms of function and the history behind it. and ooh... ice cream. if it wasn't 59F (read 15C) in my apt, i would definitely go for some.
