So if you live your life in a three piece suit,
In a cocktail dress, or combat boots
You pick your path and you walk your truth
And the world will come round to you.

Pop the cork, a champagne glass
Raise to the future, drink to the past
Thank the Lord for the friends he cast,
In the play he wrote for you.

Btw, today J and I got:
Ben & Jerry's Dublin Mudslide ice cream
Haagen Dazs Chocolate Sorbet
Godiva's Belgian Dark Chocolate ice cream
and Breyer's All Natural Vanilla (one of my favourites but now all of them are).

We brought them home and topped with fresh strawberries -- I love sugar. :)

Excited to eat cookies tmrw too. (yes, i'm 6.)

Please please remind me to hit the gym! :D

It has come to my attention that i've forgotten some other important and super fun events from this trip. for those of you who thought that roller-disco was a thing of the 80's -- it lives! i haven't rollerskated in years -- since i was a dorky kid in summer camp. and, i still had no idea what i was doing then too since the words of wisdom from my camp counsellor comprised, "if you need to stop, go into a bush." there were no bushes here and i wasn't keen on taking down other people with me so i inline skated my way around. j kicked my butt at inline skating even though it was his first time -- way to go, me.

other news: saw star wars today! it was much better than i expected, probably because i was quite disappointed with the second one barring the yoda fight scene in that one. in this eppy, yoda kicks way more ass so i was happy :) although the movie was pretty dark, it was lightened up by some good movie humour (droids were pretty funny) and the guy in the fourth row who kept laughing maniacally at random. btw, i'd like a droid instead of a dog when i grow up -- ece's & nsci's, what can you do for me? ;)

bad news: i think i near blew a lung again. this happened in third year when i went through an episode of pain during midterms. i got sick and coughed so much that i actually bruised my lung. i'm having similar pains in my chest right now after about 2-3 weeks of coughing :( this stinks.

i can't believe it's already late may :( time passes so quickly that i'm a bit worried. lots more that i wanted to do with my time off and i'm afraid of work, etc etc...regular worries.

*sigh*

also distressing is the gilmore girls season finale. to all dedicated fans, you know what i mean :(

doh -- i hate to leave this bloggie on a bad note though. i'm still doing well and i'm super excited to go do some community service stuff tomorrow. it also means i should darned well sleep soon -- 9:45am start time!

more stuff to come! remind me to blog! :)

Took a free, public tour of the Central Library today. Yes, it's a library and i know it sounds nerdy but I loved it. I wish I had a library like this when I was growing up. It's so freaking beautiful and architecturally sound (is that even a usable phrase?). Heated from a plant located elsewhere, 10000 diamond shaped windows comprising it's walls (it's almost ALL window walls for the whole 10 stories), and earthquake sound (hasn't been proven yet but civil-engineering-wise, it should theoretically work out). 400 computers, all with unrestricted internet access barring the children's section. the first (i think) spiral bookkeeping system (i.e. the shelves and floors spiral up like a parking garage so preserve continuity when upgrades/additions are made to book collections. walking down all these floors via spiralling is about a 1 mile walk -- impressive. you can also eat/drink anywhere in the library which is amazing to me (though i contained my excitment since i was already in awe at this when i found out at a more local library that i wasn't getting kicked out for lugging my starbucks around...haha damn SF library making me feel like i had to hide all food/drink!) :)...oh and lights use sodium light bulbs in some way rather than the regular tungsten lights -- efficient and long-life (at least, it better be because the light bulbs are really hard to reach and change). one guy asked how they change the light bulbs and the guide said they rely on the long life of the bulb. when the guide was talking about cleaning the windows and why they don't have to do it often, i quipped that it rains enough there. :)

anyhow, not much else since the art museum closed on me :( will have to return there some other time.

pictures to come since they're not on my camera. :) will try to get them posted soon.

for now, rest assured that today was a rainy day for me...*sniff*...

I really haven't been blogging much and for that I apologize :)

I'm a little tired right now but I've really been meaning to blog for a while and update everyone on the west side :)

Undoubtedly, I'm having a great time being with my favourite person. I've been filling my time with some good chill time and some sight-seeing (read: went shopping). I've frequented the library and also walked around most of downtown R-town. Needless to say, I've found out R-town is an amazingly small (but lovely) town. Shopping here is mainly done at R-town Town Center (my first run-in with Victoria's Secret and Abercrombie & Fitch). Course, Borders (bookstore here like Barnes & Noble) is also a favourite place of mine here :) I've read a couple books here, currently on my third. One of the books was The Da Vinci Code, which I've wanted to read for a while but never took the time to. It's been good getting some reading back into the fray (libraries have a pretty good collection of magazines here and the best thing is they allow coffee drinking ;)).

As most of you know, FOOD is the way to my heart :) And I love trying new places to eat. Some of great places I've tried so far are:
Sans Souci: great french/italian place. great duck breast and the best polenta i've ever tried. :)
Kanishka: great indian buffet. not quite The Host but I love indian food :D thinking about going to try another indian place tmrw. will have to keep you updated on the other places I go to later on :)
Chipotle: the best burritos on the face of the earth.
Sages: a little restaurant near the library with good gyros and a lot of other pastas and such on the menu. coffee was a little weak though, which can be good or bad...or it could just have been my taste buds since I was a little sick when I went there.
Thai Ginger: realllllyyy great pad thai in downtown r-town. fast and friendly service. extra crushed peanuts are a must. great service too. i tip them even when i get take-out because they're so nice. thick accents so i don't know what they're saying all the time; i assume they say good things?
The Cheesecake Factory: a little pricey and seemingly touristy but a nice place specializing in - you guessed it - cheesecake. i didn't want to spend much so i just got an appetizer (vietnamese spring rolls) which were really good. i'm a fan of peanuts so i really liked the peanut sauce. they give you a lot of fresh bread when it comes to meal rolls so I was a little filled and decided not to gorge on cheesecake. next time i'll try to though. we'll see what the weight-meter (read: scale) has to say about it.
Blue Water Taco Grill: I came here in search of food. I had a library tour (yes, library -- must remember to expound on this later) scheduled and i didn't want to miss it. this place looked decent and i was starving. at first i tried to down a scone at sbux (i love scones but sometimes, they're just not enough for a meal) and then walked around trying to find fast food (food that's fast rather than mcd's...though i would have settled for mcd's anyhow if there was one in the area)...after my search ended in vain (came across a VERY small food court but the food was scarce (it was early afternoon so most stuff was already gone) and didn't look appealing as sustenance), i went here. food was okay. the soft taco shell was...weird. too soft and mushy for my taste and didn't really hold together. it was more like a really thin pancake which would have been fine if the taste of it meshed a bit better with the ingredients. a place i would go back to if in the same situation but not a place i would suddenly think of going to for good eats or fun times.
Pho Than Brothers: I like viet food and this was a pretty good place to go to when i was trying to recover from what ever cold/viral thing i had -- i'm better now though! and no, it wasn't SARS. prices are good but atmosphere seemed a little low-end, chinese dim-sum place.

Those are most of the places so far. I aim to try a new place everyday (well, not everyday but often enough). Obvious favourites are Thai, Viet, and Indian cuisine. Why? I don't know. French is usually out of my budget and Italian stuff...well, i make too much pasta on my own so i never feel like Italian food.

As for my writing style -- i think i'm a little off-key with it. i've been reading Microserfs and wow -- this guy's mind is seriously a software tester/dev's mind. it's just...all over the place. no real transitions into thoughts. they're all scattered and consequently, my mind and writing style reflects it. damn software giants.

Oh, and I saw Unleashed the other day. Good movie! Even read about it first in Blackbelt Mag and I must say, Jet Li's a pretty versatile actor. Although I admit some of his previous work left a little something to be desired in the plots, I think his performance is usually two thumbs (well, my opinion for now).

Star Wars soon and hoping to see Sin City at some point.

Side note, I hate rain. I told some of you it doesn't really rain that much on the west side -- what was i thinking!? i lied. i got wet and cold today. glad i invested in an umbrella though. has a little button to expand and contract (?!) the "rain shield" (okay, it's an 'automatic' umbrella, which i've never actually had one of my own before so it's still novel and I like it -- so there.) :)

That's all for now...hopefully more to come soon. And yes, i still owe people postcards :$ I didn't forget! I've just been disappointed in the ones I've seen so far...waiting (hoping) to see some better ones. :)
